Website Maintenance & Technical Support

Website support and repair: error diagnosis, PHP/MySQL fixes, hosting migration, SSL, backups, security hardening and speed optimisation.

In short: if your website is down, slow or needs to move to new hosting, we diagnose the problem, back everything up, fix it and test the result. We work with PHP, MySQL, cPanel, DNS and SSL. The scope and cost of ongoing support are agreed individually.

How we handle an outage

  1. Diagnosis — we check the error log, PHP version, database, DNS and SSL;
  2. Backup — files and database are saved before any change, so everything is reversible;
  3. Fix — on a staging copy where possible, then on the live site;
  4. Testing — forms, payments, mobile version and key pages;
  5. Report — what went wrong and what was done to prevent it happening again.

Common reasons a website stops working

  • The host upgraded PHP and older code now throws errors;
  • The database connection failed or the database is corrupted;
  • The domain or SSL certificate expired, or DNS is misconfigured;
  • The hosting account ran out of disk space or resources;
  • The site was hacked or contains malicious code.

Moving to a new host or domain registrar

We copy files and the database, test the site on the new server and only then switch DNS — keeping downtime to a minimum. When moving a domain, we keep email and other DNS records intact.

Security, SSL and backups

SSL installation with automatic renewal, review of passwords and access rights, software updates, and regular off-server backups with tested restores.

Speed and PageSpeed

Image optimisation (WebP, correct sizes), caching, smaller CSS/JS and fixing slow database queries. We measure results with PageSpeed Insights and the Core Web Vitals report in Search Console. No one can promise 100/100 on every page and device — the goal is a fast site for real visitors.

Ongoing support

Updates, backups, security monitoring, help with content changes and quick response to issues. Terms and fees are agreed based on the site's technology and the workload.

Frequently asked questions

Who can fix my broken website?
We diagnose and repair websites built by other developers too. We will need temporary access to the hosting (cPanel) and, if needed, the admin panel — please do not send passwords in plain email; we will agree a secure way to share access.
How do I fix a PHP or MySQL error?
First read the error message in the hosting error log and check whether the PHP version changed. Back up files and the database before changing anything. If the cause is unclear, contact us — we fix it after taking a backup.
How do I move my website to another host?
Files and the database are copied to the new server, the site is tested on a temporary address, and only then is DNS switched. When moving a domain, keep the email (MX) records intact.
How do I back up my website?
In cPanel use Backup, or archive files with File Manager, and export the database in phpMyAdmin. Keep copies off the server and test a restore from time to time.
How do I protect my website from hackers?
Keep the software and plugins updated, use strong unique passwords, limit admin access, enable SSL and keep regular backups. No one can promise 100% protection, but these steps reduce the risk considerably.
How do I install an SSL certificate?
Many hosts enable free SSL (Let's Encrypt / AutoSSL) from cPanel. After installing it, redirect http to https and fix any old http links in the content.
How do I fix problems with my site on mobile?
Common causes are fixed-width elements, oversized images, tap targets that are too small and pop-ups covering the screen. Check with PageSpeed Insights and on real phones; we fix the layout (CSS), images and navigation and test on different screen sizes.
How much does monthly website maintenance cost?
We do not publish a fixed rate — it depends on the site's technology, how often updates are needed and the workload. Describe your site and needs and we will propose terms.
